Roosevelt Lake has a number of gentle paths that can be accessed from the campsite. Designed to offer a low-impact foray into nature, these paths allow guests to get out in the wild without requiring a long and strenuous commitment.

For the more experienced Hiker, higher impact trails are located around the lake. OVH trails are available 15 minutes away in the town of Punkin (yes, this is spelled correct, have to love the locals).
10 minute drive near the east side of the lake on route

you can start driving or Biking 6,000 feet to the top of the mountain to observe Elk and walk through many mountain forest trials.
Next to Roosevelt Lake is Tonto National Monument. Situated within rugged terrain in the northeastern part of the Sonoran Desert.

Well-preserved cliff dwellings were occupied by the Salado culture during the 13th, 14th, and early 15th centuries. The people farmed in the Salt River Valley and supplemented their diet by hunting and gathering native wildlife and plants. The Salado were fine craftsmen, producing some of the most flamboyant polychrome pottery and intricately woven textiles to be found in the Southwest. Some of the artifacts excavated nearby are on display in the visitor center museum.

Park Rangers give a guided tour of northern dwellings, reservations are necessary. The lower dwellings are open to the public without a guided tour.
